Option 2

Here at Schoolhouse, there are two things we take especially seriously — sleep and styling. Pair the two together and we've got the ultimate passion project. From crisp cottons to laid back linens, there are so many reasons why we think everyone should personalize their space with quality bedding. The best part? There are so many ways to switch your space using the same base layers. If you find yourself craving change, but don't want to buy all brand new bedding, this post is for you. Below, we share a few ways to style different setups using a few tried-and-true Schoolhouse staples.

Before we dive in, a note about bedding basics. A fun way to think about bedding is to relate it to the four layer system of clothing. To spell it out: sheet sets are undergarments, duvets are mid-layers, coverlets are outerwear, and everything else (like throw pillows) are accessories. You may be tempted to skip on investing in the basics, but we can't stress enough how much materials matter. If you still need a reason to invest, here's a fun fact: the average human spends 1/3 of their life in bed. Who's In?!

Layering in textures and multiple colors can make a room feel interesting, but not too much. The key here is to stick with a calming color palette and include lots of coordinating patterns. Here, we use the Diamond Quilted Shams, Fog Sheet Set, and Linen Duvet as the base and include pieces like the Popcorn Grid Coverlet and Plaid Wool Rug to add extra cozy appeal.

We talk a lot about heirlooms and it's because memory plays a big part in what you find comforting. Many of our most vivid moments, are times spent with loved ones at home. To us, there's nothing cozier than a blanket that reminds us of our grandma's house or a piece of furniture that looks exactly like the one our childhood best friend had. Styling a space based on this concept, can help make your sanctuary feel extra serene. Sticking with the same foundation, below we layer in the navy Winter/Summer Coverlet, add a wood clock for extra warmth, and toss a honey toned throw blanket on top for a punch of color.
